WILDCAT IN THE SNOW- ENJOY

Hi All

Winter has well and truly arrived in the Highlands and there have been huge snowfalls. This is the most exciting time of year for us, as we capture wildcats more regularly on camera during the winter months. As you know, we have cameras set across the Highlands and those cameras are already yielding results. We wanted to show you this beautiful image we recently captured. What a wonderful winter scene with this wildcat striding through the woodlands in deep snow, perfectly adapted to its forest home. Look at that tail, it looks perfect: thick, ringed and blunt. You can also make out the body striping.

It is images like this, capturing magical moments in time, that makes all our efforts worthwhile. To walk in a forest where you know wildcats inhabit is so exhilarating. Your senses are heightened in the hope of capturing even a fleeting glimpse. We often joke that the wildcats are watching us, but we can’t see them. But we are just happy in the knowledge that are still out there living wild and free. It is our job to find and protect every single one of them. That is our mission and it is a privilege to do so.
