COURT HEARING UPDATE- A MUST READ
Hi All
It is with deep sadness that we must inform you that our appeal against Vattenfall’s plans was unsuccessful. We however maintain our position that this is the wrong development at the wrong site and that if this development go ahead, it will have catastrophic impacts on the critically endangered wildcats that call the Clashindarroch their home. We of course do not agree with the verdict.
We have been fighting this campaign for over 6 years and we certainly aren’t going to give up now. Our legal team are reviewing the decision in detail and then we will be deciding on next steps. There are still options available to stop this, such as taking this to the Supreme Court in London and we will be exploring all of them. Though disappointed our resolve and fight is as strong as ever. We take great heart and determination from the fact that the forest is still there and so are the precious wildcats.
We know these animals as individuals, we have been monitoring this population for over 8 years. They are currently living their lives, oblivious to the fact that their home and lives could be destroyed forever. They cannot speak, they cannot campaign. They are fiercely wild, yet these wildcats are now so vulnerable.
We have shown many videos over the years of the Clashindarroch wildcats and it has brought great joy and by demonstrating the presence of wildcats, we have been able to continue the fight to save them.
This is one of our favourite and perhaps most poignant images of a Clashindarroch wildcat. It was taken on a camera trap in the forest. You are literally face to face with a Scottish wildcat, the rarest feline on earth. Look at it’s beauty, look into it’s eyes. It brings tears of sadness to do so, but that sadness is channelled into resolve.
So, we remain the only organisation brave enough and motivated enough to take on a multi billion pound Swedish company and the Scottish Ministers. We cannot and will not stop now. Indeed we have been out in the forest setting more cameras this week and we are in touch with campaign groups in Sweden about the next steps in our Swedish campaign. But we need you all to stand with us. Your support over the years has been incredible and humbling and we know you are all emotionally invested in this campaign.
You have always responded to our requests for support. To continue this fight and our crucial monitoring and project work, we need your support more than ever. The future of the beautiful wildcat you are looking at, depends on it. Collectively we can stop this. It is not over by a very long way:
You can donate to our crowdfunder here:

You can also help by adopting a Scottish wildcat either for yourself or as a gift for someone else. They make great Christmas gifts and are vital to resourcing our project work:

Take in the news, process it and then please join us with renewed vigour.
Many thanks as always
Emily and an even more determined, Wildcat Haven Team.
